Nicky is the Head of Transformation at Manchester City Council where until January 2010, she was the Head of Libraries.
She is responsible for delivering the transformation programme across the whole of the City Council ensuring better outcomes for residents and efficient service delivery as well as responsibility for customer service. To give you a flavour of what that means, she is currently setting up a new call centre, neighbourhood customer service centres and overseeing the £40m redevelopment of the City’s historic Central Library. Nicky is also learning fast about everything from potholes to commissioning and procurement.
Nicky is a Trustee of The Reading Agency, a national charity that works with libraries across the UK. She is the past national Chair of the Association of Senior Children’s and Education Librarians (ASCEL) an elected member of the General Assembly of the University of Manchester and previously a member of the Advisory Council on Libraries. Before she took up her new post, she was a member of the National Youth Libraries Board and the chair of its North West Board.
