The core purpose of the Improvement Service is to:

· Provide practical tools and resources to support local change and innovation
· Support improvement by improved governance, scrutiny and performance management
· Lead innovative development programmes
· Ensure access to high quality cost effective training and development opportunities for elected members and managers
As we go forward our key focus will be on enhancing the practical support we can offer councils and their partners in what will be difficult and challenging times ahead.
SOLUS enables organisations to centralise their digital communication and broadcast content to different devices and social media platforms, all from one highly functional but intuitive Web based Content Management System.
Users can broadcast content to Digital Signage (existing or new LCD/Plasma screen) networks, to their own Web Player, on a Desktop Player (People’s Network or staff facing PCs), to their Mobile App (currently on IPhone & Android – Blackberry & Windows Phone soon) and to Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
You can broadcast virtually any digital file type with no encoding knowledge required, SOLUS automatically encodes for all devices, bandwidths and browsers.
We are focused on delivering value and a return on investment for our clients and this takes several forms; saving staff time, reducing print costs and by linking your audience directly to local services (by organisation or individual facility).
Finally, we develop a lot of products in consultation with our clients which are then integrated into SOLUS. The Mobile App has been developed in partnership with The City of Edinburgh Council and existing additions will follow throughout 2011 with a Social Media Reputation Management plug in due by Summer 2011. We look forward to speaking to you at Edge 2011.
Through decades of close customer partnership we have developed outstanding solutions for academic institutions and public libraries. From acquisitions, cataloguing and circulation to powerful search tools for students and citizens, we combine leading edge technology with inclusive agile development processes. As a result we have a deep and long earned understanding of our customer’s needs.
